6 Ways to Combat Dry Skin for Men

Dry skin can affect people of all ages, it makes the skin look and feel rough, itchy, flaky or scaly. One of the common causes of dry skin is a lack of moisture or oil, although it can occur for a variety of reasons. Even though this condition isn’t usually serious, it can be irritating and cause discomfort. Here at Youngmans we have put together these six simple steps to help you combat dry skin.

Stay hydrated

Our skin is made up of approx 70% water, yet oftentimes the simple solution of ensuring you remain hydrated and drink sufficient water can be overlooked. Dry skin occurs when the body isn’t retaining water, therefore ensuring you are regularly replenishing any lost water is really important for anyone suffering from this condition. It is recommended that you drink at least 2 litres of water per day to ensure ample hydration.

Moisturise daily

While drinking water helps to replenish lost moisture at a deeper level, applying moisturiser daily will help to restore moisture to the outer layer of your skin. It acts as a barrier that stops the water from evaporating. We would recommend applying moisturiser immediately after washing. Our Moisturiser is made up of 90% organic oils and botanicals and 98% natural ingredients. It is light enough for the facial area and perfect as an all-over body moisturiser.

Humidifier

Humidifiers add moisture back into the air which can help to improve dry skin. There are many different humidifiers on the market, do your research and find one that works well for your room size. This article helps to explain the benefits of humidifiers in more detail.

Exfoliate

It can feel counterproductive but exfoliating is an important skincare step to help combat dry skin. A gentle face scrub enables you to remove the dead skin cells that are sat on the surface of the skin. Our vegan Face Scrub is full of great ingredients to help restore moisture such as Hemp Seed Oil, Grapeseed Oil and Coconut Oil.

Change your washing habits

Did you know that your washing habits may also be contributing to your dry skin? It is recommended that dry skin sufferers avoid washing using hot water as it can strip your skin of moisture. It can also help to keep your showers to five minutes or less as prolonged exposure to water can be irritating and drying to the skin.

Serum

When looking to tackle dry skin it is important to do this on multiple levels. Staying hydrated deals with the issue internally and applying moisturiser helps the skin's outer layer, it is important to also consider using a serum to penetrate the skin at a deeper level. Our 24k Gold Serum is packed with Castor Oil which is scientifically proven to speed up skin repair.
