How To Shave Your Face At Home - The Barbershop Way

Shaving is a part of many men's regular grooming routine, yet many still struggle with achieving the perfect clean shave at home. Shaving techniques are often passed down from generation to generation and bad habits are easily picked up. Whether you are shaving for the first time or are a seasoned pro looking to refine your technique, we have put together this definitive guide to help you create a barbershop-worthy clean shave from the comfort of your home.

Step One

As with many grooming routines, creating a good foundation is vital before even applying the razor to your skin. We recommend cleansing prior to shaving to lift any dirt and remove any excess oil from the skin. Our Face Soap has antioxidant qualities and contains Charcoal to extract impurities from the skin, resulting in a deep detoxing cleanse.

If you suffer from particularly sensitive or dry skin and often feel irritation when you shave you can combat this by applying a Pre Shave Oil. It softens the facial hair to enable a smoother shave and it contains 100% natural oils including kernal, alba seed & zizanoides root oil to add restorative nutrients to the skin.

Step Two

Now you have prepped the skin it is time to apply a Shaving Cream to your face. Add a fingertip's worth of Shave Cream to a bowl and lather with a damp shaving brush (not dripping wet). Massage gently in a firm circular motion onto your skin to ensure the cream gets in between the facial hair to create a barrier. Use warm water to create your lather as it helps to open up the pores to give a smoother shave.

Step Three

When it comes to choosing your razor, we recommend opting for a safety razor to achieve a cleaner shave with less irritation. Our brand new stainless steel safety razors are plastic-free as every year over 2 billion plastic razors are thrown out with almost all ending in landfill as their mixture of materials make them difficult to recycle. Now it’s time to start shaving, hold the razor at a 30 degree angle to the skin. Do not apply pressure - hold the handle gently and let the weight of the razor head glide over your skin. Shave in direction of hair growth.

Step Four

When you’ve finished shaving splash some cold water over your face, this will help to smooth and close the pores. Apply some soothing Post Shave Balm to the shaved area as it helps to nourish irritated skin. Our balm contains Beeswax,  Cocoa Butter,  Calendula infused Sunflower Oil and Meadowfoam Seed Oil to deeply moisturise the skin.

Step Five

To finish up we recommend applying Moisturiser to your whole face. Our Natural Moisture Cream contains Aloe Vera to promote blood circulation and repair skin damage.
